Trump Plans to Throw the Debate With Biden
He thinks it will keep Biden on the ticket
Hey, remember when I was predicting that Trump would drop out of the debates with Biden? Turns out I was only half right. Trump’s new plan is to show up and deliberately lose the debate.
His stated reason for throwing the debate is so that Biden will remain on the Democratic ticket. Trump thinks it will be easy to beat him. He doesn’t want Biden replaced by another Democrat who might be tougher to defeat.
Here’s what he said:
“Maybe I’m better off losing the debate, I’ll make sure he stays. I’ll lose the debate on purpose, maybe I’ll do something like that.”
Let’s break this down.
First of all, choosing your opponent by throwing support to them is not new. Democrats used this strategy during the 2022 midterm primaries. They supported Trump’s handpicked MAGA candidates in the primaries knowing that they would be easy to beat in the general election.
They were right and the predicted red wave turned into a pathetic trickle.
Secondly, and most importantly, Trump is lowering expectations. He knows he will lose the debates with Biden. Hell, he’d lose a debate with anyone except maybe his two oldest sons. Especially Eric. Unless…
