Hang on to your wallets. There’s a new sheriff in town. Trump has appointed his favorite slash and burn cost cutter Russell Vought as the acting director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).

You know Trump and his “acting” shit. No need for Senate confirmation. Just appoint them and turn them loose.

Just a quick review: the CFPB was created in 2010 in the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis. It’s supposed to keep a close eye on the financial industry to protect consumers from predatory practices. Naturally, the Republicans hate it and want to get rid of it.

Russell Vought is a real piece of work. In 2022, he came up with a budget proposal which he called “A Commitment to End Woke and Weaponized Government.” Here are some of his proposed budget cuts:

· Head Start — $5.4 billion

· Low Income Energy Assistance — $3.7 billion

· the Department of Housing and Urban Development — $25.8 billion

· Section 8 Vouchers — $12.8 billion

· Medicaid — $1.1 trillion over 10 years
