Trump’s Legal Team Files Four Motions to Throw Out the Election Interference Case
I’m no lawyer but even I can see that they are laughable
Trump is getting his money’s worth out of his legal team. They are doing exactly what he wants them to do — delay, delay, delay. They have filed four, count them, four motions to dismiss the election interference case against him.
The motions are all ridiculous, but each one has to be heard, argued and decided by Judge Chutkan. Let’s take a look at the nonsense that has been filed with the court.
1. Trump’s views and words that the 2020 election was stolen are protected by his free speech rights as outlined in the First Amendment.
“The fact that the indictment alleges that the speech at issue was supposedly, according to the prosecution, ‘false’ makes no difference. Under the First Amendment, each individual American participating in a free marketplace of ideas — not the federal Government — decides for him or herself what is true and false on great disputed social and political questions.”
Which, of course, deliberately overlooks the fact that Trump tried to translate that speech into action and attempted to overthrow the 2020 election.
