Trust me, the country was in worse shape when we got here. Read a little women's history. You will be shocked at how few rights women had. And Jim Crow may have been the law of the land in the South, but it was also informally the law up North. It was open season on LGBTQ people. And the handicapped were often committed to nursing homes because no one wanted to be bothered with them.

Ever hear of the book "Silent Spring," published in 1962? It was the beginning of the environmental movement. How about the book "Unsafe at any Speed" published in 1965? That was the start of the consumer protection movement.

Boomers accomplished a lot. But now it's time for us to step aside and let the younger generations finish the work that we started.
