Ugh, I still remember the horrors of high school English classes. We read a lot of classics. I enjoyed them as stories but then in class the teacher would insist we root out what the author was REALLY trying to say. I couldn't grasp the concept of multiple layers of meaning in what to me were simply stories. Some interesting, some not. Some well written, some not.
