We Are Now in a Constitutional Crisis
Trump has defied a judge’s order
Just as I thought, a judge has issued a verdict, or in this case an order, that Trump doesn’t like and so he has ignored it. Normally I would be typing/screaming in all caps, but you know what? Nobody seems to care.
Or they are too cowardly to admit what is happening. Well, long time readers know that I’m not afraid of anything or anyone, so I will say what everyone else is afraid to say: we are now in a Constitutional crisis.
How the hell did we get here?
Events did move a little quickly. On Friday, that would be March 14, Trump issued a proclamation … I wonder how big it was … did it require a bigger Sharpie or a bigger signature?…invoking the Alien Enemies Act of 1798.
The act has only been used three times in our history. The first time was during the War of 1812, then during World War I, and most infamously, during World War II to intern Americans of Japanese descent who lived on the West Coast.
The Alien Enemies Act of 1798 allows the president to deport non-citizens without benefit of a court hearing. In other words, shut up and get on the plane.
The act can be invoked only if a war is declared on another country or if another country invades or threatens to invade…
