Wanna know what a Trump 2.0 DOJ would look like? Look no further than the non-profit America First Legal Foundation, which is described by its founder, Stephen Miller as “conservative version of the American Civil Liberties Union.”
Stephen Miller, you may recall, served in the Trump administration and was the proud creator of the Muslim ban and the child separation policy. He has continued in the same vein since Trump left office through his new legal firm.
You are correct to wonder how he founded a legal firm despite not being a lawyer. In MAGA land, you don’t need actual expertise or even credentials to form and run organizations.
Nor, apparently, do you need many lawyers. Despite a flurry of legal actions, America First Legal Foundation employs fewer than ten lawyers. Miller, instead, relies on the expertise and lawyers of two much larger firms.
One is Consovoy McCarthy which is based in Arlington, Virginia. Five of its partners served as clerks to Justice Clarence Thomas. Which kinda tells you all you need to know about the firm and its philosophy.
