Will Abortion Shield Laws Lead to Civil War?

So, let’s stay on the topic of the abortion wars for a moment and talk about the slowly widening chasm between the states where abortion is legal and those benighted states where it is not. States with legal abortions have been encouraging women to come there for abortion care and now are also mailing abortion medication to women who are unable to travel outside of their states for abortion care.
I want to talk a little bit about the issue of mailing abortion medication from a state where it is legal to a state where it is not legal. It’s pretty simple really. A woman in Texas, for example, can contact a medical provider in Massachusetts, Washington, Colorado, Vermont, New York, or California, who will prescribe the medication and have it mailed to her.
They can do this because of what are known as telemedicine abortion shield laws which do exactly that. Shield doctors, nurse practitioners, and midwives that prescribe and send abortion medication to women in states where it is not legal to do so, from lawsuits.
This, naturally, has pissed off the states where abortion has been severely restricted or banned altogether, for two reasons. The first reason being that they believe that abortion should be illegal everywhere and they want…
