Will Clarence Thomas Be Referred to the Justice Department?

He is under investigation by a member body of the Judicial Conference

Well, well, well. After many sonorous pronouncements from the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court that the court is protected by the Constitution from outside oversight, it turns out that there is a body of appointed judges that provide oversight over the Supreme Court.

It’s called the Committee on Financial Disclosure. It is composed of 16 judges. Eight of whom were appointed by Democratic presidents and six were appointed by Republican presidents. The remaining two were appointed by their peers.

The committee is a part of the Judicial Conference which meets twice a year to make recommendations to Chief Justice John Roberts about the federal judiciary.

Roberts, who is refusing to testify in Congress about Justice Clarence Thomas’ shenanigans, has referred the whole mess to the Committee on Financial Disclosure.

Does this mean that Roberts lied and there is outside oversight of the Supreme Court?

Turns out that this is not Thomas’ first rodeo. He was investigated by this illustrious body back in 2011 when he … ahem … failed to report income earned by his wife Ginni…
