You are reading the amendment too literally. Incapable of discharging his duty as president includes inciting insurrection. That is what is at issue here. Trump is a traitor to our country and urged citizens to commit treason. That is not “escalation” as you claim. There will be no “return to the relative civility we had a few years ago” until we have removed the cancer at the head of our government.
