A Year-End Message to My Readers (2022 Edition)
May you live in interesting times
Has it been a year already since the last time we got together? Time really has flown by, hasn’t it?
Last year, I predicted that 2022 would be even crazier than 2021. And 2021 was the year a losing presidential candidate tried to stage a coup!
Well, I was right. 2022 was the epitome of the old Chinese curse: may you live in interesting times.
Let us count the ways:
· There was a leak of a decision (unheard of!) from the Supreme Court in May that Roe v. Wade was going to be overturned. The leak turned out to be true. And women lost the right to choose in most red states.
· The FBI raided an ex-president’s home. Unheard of! But Trump had stolen documents, including highly classified ones and was storing them in unsecure locations at Mar-a-Lago. Also unheard of!
· And then there were the televised hearings of the select committee investigating the events of January 6. Okay, been there, done that, Watergate hearings and all that. But (this is the unheard-of part) when their work was finished, they blamed it all on Trump and referred criminal charges against him to the DOJ.
