DeSantis Is Training and Equipping His Own Army
It is answerable only to him
Ya know, there’s some really scary shit going on these days. We’ve got Trump, the frontrunner for the Republican nomination, who is openly planning to make himself a dictator. And now DeSantis, the first runner-up to Trump in the Republican nomination pageant, who is training and equipping his own private army that is answerable only to him.
No exaggeration. Back in December 2021, DeSantis announced that he was re-activating the Florida State Guard. Yes, state guards do exist. In fact, 22 other states, including Puerto Rico, have them.
And in case you are wondering what they are, Wikipedia defines them as:
“In the United States, state defense forces are military units that operate under the sole authority of a state government. State defense forces are authorized by state and federal law and are under the command of the governor of each state.”
Initially, DeSantis requested $10 million from the Florida state legislature to fund a force of 400 recruits whose mission would be to aid the National Guard in responding to “hurricanes, natural disasters and other state emergencies.”
