The North Carolina Legislature is Making Voting More Difficult

They are passing new laws designed to suppress the votes of Democrats and Black voters

Let’s revisit one my recent articles; the one where I discuss the Supreme Court striking down the “independent legislature” theory. You can read it here.

Since that decision was handed down … actually, even before the case reached the Supreme Court … it became moot because North Carolina elected a new state supreme court that is majority conservative.

I know, it sounds weird, but North Carolina elects its supreme court justices instead of appointing them. And they serve eight-year terms, instead of life. Which I kinda like.

When the whole gerrymandering mess was being decided, the North Carolina state supreme court was 4–3 liberal. After the election, it is now 5–2 conservative.

Naturally, the state legislature is taking advantage of this and the fact that they now have a veto-proof majority and are passing new voting laws as fast as they can.

Ya know, election integrity and all that.

These new laws should probably be called anti-voting laws because they are designed to ensure that only certain people can…
